Let Your Light Shine

We are living in a time of darkness and chaos.  People are lovers of their own selves: boastful and proud.   We are encouraged to be competitive and to want more.  Children are disrespectful to their parents.  The satisfaction of self is exhorted, and humility is ignored.  Even in the church; there is only a form of godliness: the singing is beautiful, the preaching is great; yet, there is no power because "self" is center stage.

It is written, "
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  (Matthew 5:16)  Our "good works" are to glorify God only, and not ourselves.  God shares His glory with no one. (See Isaiah 42:8)

Jesus said, "Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid."  Matthew 5:14

Christians have been called to make a difference in the world.  The life of a Christian is to direct the lost and hurting to Jesus Christ.  Like a lighthouse on the shore of a turbulence sea; the lighthouse is not the lost ships' refuge, but the ship's direction to shore.  We are not a refuge for the lost and hurting, but a lighthouse that directs the lost and hurting to safety: Jesus.

Let us not be imitators of men, but imitators of Christ Jesus.  The Apostle Paul said, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ."  (1 Corinthians 11:1)    Let your light so shine that people everywhere will see the love, kindness, goodness, gentleness, peace, faithfulness, and long-suffering of Jesus in all that you do and say.  Let it be said when they come away, "I've had an
encounter with Jesus."

In regards to enlightenment, this is my favorite verse. When I was young, I was convinced to go to mass every Sunday. During the phase of growing up, I question the essence of worshiping God, but actually I found happiness and life in there. It was always an enlightenment for me every time I go to Church. It was really a good idea to be with God by the means of communicating with him by singing, dancing and having speech during Sunday worships.

Every one of us has t time to shine. We should let go with the flow and just trust God. Imagine yourself shining with others that is a good thing. Shining alone is better that is why we should avoid the feeling of jealousy from others. We have our own time, God made us uniquely and we just have to trust them. The direction of life is really preposterous and it is up to us on how we make choices.
