It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. -Lamentations 3:22-23
Nothing hurts more than seeing the vulnerable being taken advantage of, or the unrighteous prospering and the child of God suffering. Our nation is filled with injustice. Unrighteousness reigns.
Like Jeremiah, I sought the LORD:
"...Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously? Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins....How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end." Jeremiah 12:1,2,4
I cried. I was grieved in my spirit because of the spread of unrighteousness that has permeated our nation. I wanted God to do something. I wanted the hurt, the pain, and the sickness to cease.
Then I heard the LORD say, "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity." (Psalm 37:1). The LORD is long-suffering. Be thankful that He is. It is because of His mercy, you were not consumed. Remember your days of living in sin. Remember your days of walking in darkness. I waited for you. Should I not wait for them, too? Be thankful that I am full of mercy - otherwise no one would be saved. I bear long with you. Do not others deserve the same? I am a righteous God. I am love, and desire that no one be lost. Therefore; be patient with the un-saved, just as I was, and am, patient with you.
My eyes were opened.
It is God's desire that no one be lost, but that all come to the saving knowledge of Him. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. -2 Peter 3:9
God bears long with us that we might come to know Him and follow Him; nevertheless; "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7
For it is written:
35 I have seen a wicked, violent person
well-rooted, like a flourishing native tree.
36 Then I passed by and noticed he was gone;
I searched for him, but he could not be found.
37 Watch the blameless and observe the upright,
for the person of peace will have a future.
38 But transgressors will all be eliminated;
the future of the wicked will be destroyed.
39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord,
their refuge in a time of distress.
40 The Lord helps and delivers them;
he will deliver them from the wicked and will save them
because they take refuge in him. -Psalm 37:35-40 (CSB)
Therefore; let us who love the LORD, pray for the un-saved. Let us stand in the gap for them through prayers of intercession daily, that they might be loosed from the strongholds of Satan.
Someone prayed for us. That's why we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It was not because of our own righteousness, but because of the mercy and grace of God. Let us pray for the change that we seek, and not murmur and complain. Expressing dissatisfaction through unkindness will take you further away from your goal.
God said:
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,
turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal
their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14
We want our nation healed. We want this sickness abated from the land. This is the formula.
This is the cure.
