Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7
Jesus: God personified, did not count equality with the Father a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself – stepped out of His deity, and made Himself of no reputation. He came in the form of a vulnerable, newborn baby.
Unless we search the Scriptures, it is difficult for the finite mind to grasp the significant of entering the earth’s atmosphere as a vulnerable child, and as a servant.
But, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “…Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:3
Jesus came to show us the way. He removed His authority, and laid aside His deity that He might humble Himself and identify with us. Unless we be born again; not of flesh and blood, but of the Spirit, we cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven.
To see God, and to experience His presence, requires us stripping away our thoughts, our ideals, our opinions, our traditions, our ideologies, and our ways. For God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and neither are His ways our ways. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are {God’s} ways higher than {our} ways, and {His} thoughts than {our} thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9 {Words in parenthesis mine.}
Therefore, we must come as little babies – ones whose thoughts and ways are yet undeveloped. Ones who will sit humbly at the Master’s Feet and become molded and transformed by His Words. As a baby – depending on no thoughts of our own, but leaning, and depending entirely upon our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.
